Encaustic – Christmas Tree

Last year near Christmas, I made my second piece of encaustic, I remembered that I have a set of Tim Holtz Christmas Tree stamps, I wanted to have a try on stamping crossover encaustic.

I grabbed out the stamp set, some tissue paper and ink pads, I stamped a few Christmas trees on tissue paper and tried to place them in between the wax layers, it worked perfectly, but they are not dimensional, so I add one more Christmas tree with wax seals, it came out so cool.

Another thing that I have tried on this encaustic painting is Perfect Pearls. I mixed a bit of Perfect Pearls powder in the melted candle to paint the background, they cannot mix well together, but the outcome looks good.

After this second piece of encaustic painting, I love encaustic strongly, and I wanted to buy more colours and tools to play with, but I’m not going to buy the ‘real’ encaustic paints but wax seals, though they are not melted smoothly, the uneven and the uniqueness is what I love.

I’m now shopping for my encaustic, will let you know later what I bought, ha!
